Bio
A native Texan, Cheryl Votzmeyer for as long as she can remember has loved to draw, paint, and sketch. Growing up, she was always encouraged by her parents to pursue her dreams and to never back down from any obstacle that got in her way.
While discovering who she was Cheryl moved to New York City in the late 1980's where she pursued a successful modeling career. The modeling was exciting and helped to expand her horizons, but Cheryl felt that there was so much more to life than just posing in front of cameras and working in showrooms. While pursuing her love of art and painting from her makeshift studio in her Manhattan apartment Cheryl attended college and studied at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City where she studied Interior Design and Business. At this time she realized that the pursuit of this degree was too confining and structured. Through her struggle of deciding upon a career choice Cheryl discovered her passion for painting and decided that she would eventually become an artist by profession. While living in New York City Cheryl learned about global travel and during these travels has been inspired to seek the fullness of life as a person and has been inspired as an artist to create by the experience of new places and new people.
Cheryl has traveled around the world learning and studying different artist and learning who and what she would like to deliver through her art work. Cheryl is naturally talented and is completely self taught in her artistic discipline and has found that depending on what is happening in the world, in her community and in her life is what helps her define what her subject matter will be.
In 1996 Cheryl moved back to Texas and eventually met the person she was to marry and settled down in Corpus Christi, TX. In 2003 she decided that she wanted to step out and begin her own decorative painting company which she named Green Frog & Co.. She creates beautiful spaces by applying faux finish techniques and murals. You will find her work all over Corpus Christi in residential and commercial spaces and her artwork has been commissioned by clients from around the world. Although she thoroughly enjoys her business of decorative painting she truly loves being able to create beautiful and interesting pieces of art on canvas. You can find her on any given day working in her home based studio and painting something that she has been compelled to create.
Recently Cheryl has stepped out into the world of photography grasping on to the perspective of looking through the lense of her camera and finding the perfect subject.
